Day 35
The Prodigal Son. Page 397. Luke 15.
Read the parable together. Ask your children what they think the story means.
The father in the story shows us what God is like, and the brothers show us what we are like. Does the father love one of his sons more than the other? No. God also loves us all equally. People who follow the rules and people who break the rules all need God’s forgiveness.
Make a family of paper dolls (concertina a sheet of paper and draw an outline of a person, making sure the hands and feet touch the edges, then cut out the shape). Write on each doll a different name and characteristic, some good and some bad.
Each one of these people is God’s child and he loves them all equally.
Write ‘Welcome Home’ on a leaf to hang on your prayer tree.
