Week 4 - Faithful Community
Opening Prayer & Discussion
Almighty God, we thank you that in Christ
we have been brought from death to life,
and that this life is in community with one another.
As in your Son we are forgiven and anointed,
so through your Spirit may we become loving and faithful.
Heavenly Father, may it please you to accomplish this in our lives.
Amen.
Question for the final week: what has God been teaching you (and us) through this series?
Bible Study
Read 1 John 5:1-12
John finishes his letter with this concluding thought: our love for one another is governed by the commands of God (v2). What happens if we find a command in God's word that we don't think is loving towards our brother or sister?
Do we ever find keeping God's commands burdensome? (v3)
Is this passage all about us trying hard to be faithful to God? Or is our faithfulness a response to something? (v11-12)
Where are you finding it hard to be faithful at the moment? How can we as your small group encourage and support you?
