Matthew 18:21-35

Just for fun

As a household play the game two truths and a lie. Each person must say three statements; two that are true, one that is not. Everyone will have to guess which is the lie.

Craft

What you’ll need: large sheets of paper; paints.

Get each child to choose a colour to represent all the wrong things they have done, and to paint an abstract picture in this colour.

They should then, in a different colour, paint either the word “sorry”, or anything else they want to indicate that they are sorry.

In a third colour, they can paint the word “forgiven”.

Activity for the whole family

What you’ll need: card, envelopes, coloured pens/pencils, odds and ends to stick on (stickers, gems, foam shapes, etc.).

Remind the children that we need to forgive and be forgiven. It’s important that we say sorry for the wrong things we’ve done to one another and to God.

Let the children make a card to say sorry to someone.

Prayer

Ask your children if they want to say sorry to God. For those who do, on the count of 3, get them to shout “sorry” at the tops of their voices. Then get them to whisper “sorry” as quietly as they can. Explain that it doesn’t matter how they say it. As long as they mean it, God hears and forgives.
