Day 44
The Holy Spirit. Page 473. Acts 2.
After Jesus had ascended into heaven, the disciples were waiting for the holy spirit to come as Jesus had promised. Read about Pentecost and when the Holy Spirit came for the first time. Flap around some blankets to remind you of the wind. Make some fire headbands by cutting a strip of card big enough to go around your head, and sticking on red, orange and yellow scraps to look like fire.
The spirit caused thousands of people to believe and be baptised at Pentecost. Remind your children that the Holy Spirit is still at work today. You could practise listening to God and asking for Him to speak.
Get your children to close their eyes and ask God if He has a message. Did they hear any words or see any pictures? Perhaps these were from God.
You can use these simple rules to explore further.
1. Is it edifying? Prophecies should only be shared if they are encouraging, not scary.
2. Is it Biblical? Prophecies should align with the Bible and be tested against it.
3. Is it clear? Be sure to record accurately what word or picture you have had, don't add anything to it. Ask God again, what is the message?
Don’t be scared, prophecy is a spiritual gift available to all, and that includes children.
Draw some fire and wind on a leaf to hang on your prayer tree.
