Our Vision

🔭

Following Jesus

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. At the core of everything we do is a deep commitment to following Him. We love seeing peoples' lives transformed when they encounter Jesus, and we celebrate this transformation with regular baptisms.

Building Community

The church is not a social club – it is a family that we are called to. We value commitment to one another, serving one another, and creating spaces to enable deep relationships to flourish.

Loving Newcastle

We are praying for God's kingdom to come in the North East, as in heaven. We exist to serve the city and to proclaim the good news of Jesus in the power of the Spirit, so that we might see the region transformed.

Planting Churches

As the Resource Church for the Diocese of Newcastle, we are called to resource mission and ministry across this region by planting and revitalising churches across the North East – for the sake of God's kingdom.

We have a £191k gap between our regular giving and our spending forecast.

Less than half of the church are currently giving.

If you don’t yet give, would you prayerfully consider starting today?

If you currently give to St Thomas’, thank you so much.

🙏

Would you prayerfully consider increasing the amount you give by 10%?

"Before last year’s generosity series, finances would weigh on my mind a lot. Letting go of money was something I feared and I found it difficult to be generous, including to myself. Because of this, giving a portion of my salary felt like a daunting act.

The series taught me that giving back to God what he has already given to us is not something to fear but instead to bring freedom. By offering my first fruits I am making a declaration before God of where my trust belongs. It’s a statement against the lies the world tells us about security, as well as an act of gratitude for the countless blessings God has laid upon me that I so often don’t acknowledge.

I don’t believe that beginning to give has been simply a mindset shift but instead a transformation of my heart and the discovery of a new joy that generosity brings. Giving financially was just the start of a journey where God has been continually speaking to me about all the different areas of my life that I can be generous with and lay my trust in him alone, the one who gave his all for me."

As a church family, we never start with money - we always start with the gospel. We give because God has already given us everything in Jesus. His generosity comes first, ours simply follows. At the heart of Christian giving is worship: a glad, grateful recognition that God is the one who provides, sustains, and leads us; that everything we have is ultimately his gift to us.

Thank you to those of you who give regularly and sacrificially. Especially those who give through the Parish Giving Scheme month by month. God has used your generosity in ways you may never fully know this side of eternity! And if you’re new to the church, or if you’ve not yet begun giving, can I invite you to join in? It’s one of the simplest and most significant ways to partner in what God is doing among us and it is one way we respond to the gospel in worship.

Over the past year we’ve seen God at work again and again, many people coming to faith, disciples growing in maturity, young people meeting Jesus, communities served. We are seeing the Kingdom of God come!

But alongside the encouragement, there is also a challenge. For us to become financially sustainable and to pursue the vision we believe God has entrusted to us, our giving needs to increase by around 10% each year for the next four years. That may sound like a stretch, but if each of us plays our part, this is totally achievable.

The wonderful thing is this: God never asks us to give without first reminding us of his own generosity. The cross remains our starting point and our motivation. “Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all” and it continues to reshape our hearts, our priorities, and our giving.

Thank you for your faithfulness, your prayers, your service, and your generosity. Let’s keep trusting the Lord together for all that lies ahead, confident that He will provide all that we need as his kingdom comes here in the North East as it is in heaven.

How to give ❤️

1. Pray

When it comes to giving, it’s essential to begin in prayer. We’re not all called to give the same amount, but we are all called to be generous. Spend some time listening to God about what He may be asking you to give this year.

2. Pledge

Once you’ve prayerfully reached a decision about how much to give, it’s helpful to fill out and return a pledge form. This enables us as a church to plan well, forecast our finances for the coming year, and steward our giving and receiving responsibly.

3. Practice

The final step is to put this all into practice! The best way to give is to set up a monthly direct debit, whatever the amount may be. Click here to set up regular giving or to donate a one-off gift. Thank you - we are so grateful for your generosity.
