Prayer
Week 2 - Adoration
Adapted from The Prayer Course
Opening Prayer & Discussion
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
What did you find most helpful or most challenging in the sermon on Sunday? Why do you think that we most often associate prayer with asking, rather than worship and adoration?
Discussion
Read Acts 4:24-31.
Q. Do you enjoy spending time with God? When are the times that prayer feels most enjoyable?
Q. Mim said on Sunday that prayer is primarily about relationship with God: “Itʼs relational, not transactional”. How does this change your perspective of coming to God in prayer?
Q. In this passage, the early church put their own crisis into perspective by worshipping. Mim talked about moving from a microscopic view, to a telescopic view. What practical ways do they do this?
What are the practical things you could do this week to foster an attitude of worship in your daily routine?
Prayer & Community
Split into twos or threes, and commit to one way that you're going to understand your life in the narrative of scripture this week. Pray for each other.
