Song suggestion: You Restore My Soul

Bible

Read Psalm 23 (focus on V6)

Discussion

This verse contains two promises: Jesus PROMISES to pursue you with Goodness & Love & Jesus PROMISES you his presence forever! In verse 6, the Hebrew word for ‘follow’ means to hunt down or pursue. He chases us with goodness and love.

  • Where do you sense the Holy Spirit pursuing you with his goodness and love in your life at the moment?

  • In what areas of your life do you feel He is pursuing you most?

We looked at three ingredients to illustrate different seasons of our lives - the bitter baking soda, the dry flour and the messy egg. On their own they can taste terrible.

  • Which of these seasons of life are you walking through at the moment?

  • What would it look like to place those ingredients into the Potter’s hand (Isaiah 64), and to trust that He is working them together for your good (Romans 8:28)?

Can you say as David did in the psalm - “Goodness and love have followed me all the days of my life”?

  • In the good and bad seasons, can you see that He was pursuing you?

Jesus cried out "It is finished!" from the cross.

  • Are there areas where you are still living like you have to work your way into His presence? Or earn His approval?

The Shepherd became the lamb. He left His home to bring us home. Jesus’ pursuit of you led Him to the cross.

  • How does this truth change how you will live your life for Him this week?
