Question One
Jesus promised that whoever believes in Him will do "even greater things" than He did (John 14:12) through the Spirit. What's one "work" or area where you feel God is inviting you to reflect His presence and power this week?
Share specific, personal examples. Remind everyone that "greater works" can be anything from a kind word to a courageous step of faith.
Question Two
Jesus links loving Him with keeping His commands (John 14:15, 21, 23). Where is the Spirit challenging you to deeper obedience or understanding of Jesus' teaching right now, and what's a small, practical step you can take in the power of the Spirit?
Encourage group members to identify one specific area, no matter how small, where they feel the Spirit nudging them. Ask them to name a concrete, actionable step they can take this week, relying on the Holy Spirit's power rather than just willpower. For example, 'If the Spirit is highlighting patience, a small step might be pausing before responding in a frustrating moment, and asking the Spirit for help.' Or, 'If the Spirit is highlighting generosity, a small step might be intentionally looking for one person to encourage or bless this week.'"
Question Three
Jesus offers a peace "not as the world gives" (John 14:27), encouraging us not to let our hearts be troubled or afraid. What current anxiety or difficult circumstance are you facing where you need to intentionally lean into Jesus' unique peace this week?
Allow for vulnerability, and emphasise that this peace isn't about ignoring problems but about trusting God within them. You might ask, "What would it look like to invite His peace into that specific situation?”
Question Four
On this Pentecost Sunday, we remember the Holy Spirit, the "Advocate" whom the Father sent (John 14:26), empowering us. In what area of your life or faith journey do you most long to be freshly filled or more keenly aware of the Spirit's empowering presence right now?
Question Five
Ben spoke of a "Quiet Revival" and his longing for the quiet revival to turn into a “noisy revival." How do you see God inviting our life group and the church as a whole to participate in this "greater work" together, and what is one practical step we can take corporately to join in with these greater works Jesus is calling us to?
Prayer
Pray “Come Holy Spirit” together and spend some time waiting on Him.
