The Church as an Advert
The Church is supposed to be a trailer for the New Creation, as is the way we live our lives. How can we preview what is coming to the world today?
A New Family
In verses 9-10, the multitude is united by the Lamb and salvation songs rather than by their "tribe," "language," or "political slogans". In a world that is often fractured and divided, how does this passage challenge us to ensure that our shared identity in Jesus always carries more weight than our personal politics or cultural backgrounds?
A New Purity
Verse 14 describes a crowd whose robes are made white by the "blood of the Lamb" rather than their own effort or performance. If the church is meant to be a "laundry room" for the broken rather than a "museum/stage for the impressive", what are some of the "designer labels" or "spiritual medals" we are most tempted to wear to make ourselves look better than others? How does this change the way we view each other?
A New Intimacy
Verses 15-17 promise that God will "spread his tent" over us (a picture of his presence), lead us to "living water," and wipe away every tear. Since "Jesus is all we need" for true satisfaction and joy, what are some of the "Jesus + _____" things (like a certain level of comfort, status, relationship, or a specific life stage) that we often mistakenly believe we need to be truly happy?
