Reflection
‘Trust In the Lord’.
When reading through the Psalm I was reminded that my trust should be placed in the Lord. He has and always will provide for us, we should delight in what God has done for us.
One of the verses that stood out to me was Verse 24, “though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. ”It was great to be reminded that God is walking with me and when we fall, sin, and turn away from him, he never let us go. This reminds me of the Footprints poem, sometimes we have to let go and give it all to God.
Gods love for us is greater than we can imagine and in seasons of struggle, when we may find it difficult to turn towards Him. We should remember that, ‘God fights for you’, he holds us up when we stumble and that we should take refuge in his arms.
The verses in Luke stand out as a promise from God. ‘Do not be afraid, little flock for your Father has been pleased to give you his Kingdom’. God has provided us with our earthly home and has set out a plan for us on this earth. But the King will return, the ‘Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him’. But before this time comes, we should trust in the Lord, he will fulfil his promises, and remember that he does the fight for us. Evident in the Sacrifice of his only son.
Prayers
Father,
I pray for courage, the courage that I can lay down my struggles before you and leave them there.
I pray for strength, the strength to take refuge in your arms.
I pray that I will trust in your plans and not be afraid.
I pray for thy kingdom come.
Amen.
Collect
O God,
The strength of all those who put their trust in you,
Mercifully accept our prayers and, because through the weakness of our mortal nature
We can do no good thing without you,
Grant us the help of your grace,
That in the keeping of your commandments
We may please you both in will and deed;
Through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
Who is alive and reigns with you,
In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God, now and for ever.
Amen.
