Day 39

Washing the Disciples’ Feet. Page 437. John 13.

Read the story of how Jesus washed his disciples feet before the last supper.

Fill a bowl with warm water, and act out washing and drying each other's feet. Talk about what this means. Normally a king would have his feet washed by a servant, but here Jesus the King was doing the serving. This is an important lesson for us. We should be more eager to serve than to be served.

How can you be someone who loves to serve? Write down some challenges to do today. Perhaps you could help lay the table for dinner, or offer to clear the plates. You could fold some laundry, or offer to fetch a drink for someone.

Jesus set us the ultimate example. If we all followed this and tried our hardest to serve each other, how much more peaceful would our homes be? Pray for God to help you to find joy in serving.

Draw a bowl of water and a towel on a leaf to hang on your prayer tree.
