Day 5

The Tower of Babel. Page 34. Genesis 11.

Read the story of the tower of Babel together.

Use whatever you can find to build a really tall tower. We like to raid the recycling basket for this. Cushions are a favourite too. See if you can reach it as high as heaven…! When the tower falls down, talk about different languages. Do your children know any different languages? Or other people you know? You could play a familiar worship song but in a different language, to remind you that God’s word is true in every language.

The people of Babel were scattered around the world because they acted as if they no longer needed God. Do we act like this sometimes? Challenge your children to think about ways they sometimes act in their own interests and not how God asks us too. Be honest about your own actions too. Pray for each other as a family! Remember to affirm your children that they are forgiven through Jesus dying on the cross. Nothing we do can make God love us any more or any less.

Draw a tall tower on your leaf to hang on your prayer tree.
