Bible Study
Read Romans 8:12-17
This passage starts by talking about having an obligation that shapes our life. (v12) What obligations shape your decision making?
There are three persons mentioned in v15 - by the Spirit of Adoption to sonship we cry Abba Father. We have been adopted into a community of love, mercy, and holiness. How should this affect the way we live our lives?
Brogan said that this new identity as children of God should means that we're called away from things which are not compatible with our new identity, and towards things are commanded by our new identity. What do you feel called away from and called towards?
Where do you need to know God's power to live the life he has called you to this week?
Prayer & Community
Pray for each other & hold each other accountable. This week might raise some issues that need picking up outside the sessions. You may want to flag that we're here to support each other as a community, especially in regards to the parts of following Jesus we find difficult and need help with.
A prayer for this week:
Almighty and everlasting God,
you have given us your servants grace,
by the confession of a true faith,
to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity
and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity:
keep us steadfast in this faith,
that we may evermore be defended from all adversities;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
